Travel Information and Requirements

Marabu welcomes certified assistance dogs on board. If you’re traveling with an assistance dog, we kindly ask that you register the animal in advance—ideally as early as possible, and no later than 48 hours before your flight. To ensure a smooth journey, please review the following requirements and guidelines:

Documentation

  • A valid identification document confirming the dog’s status as a certified assistance dog must be presented at the time of booking and again during your journey.
  • Please familiarize yourself with the rules applicable for the entry, exit and transit of Assistance Dogs for the country of your destination.
  • Marabu is not liable for any consequences, losses or expenses incurred due to your failure to observe the respective country’s valid regulations for the entry, exit and transit of the animal or for the passenger’s failure to present the proper documentation to support entry, exit or- health requirements. This also applies for the reentry into the country of origin.

Transportation

  • Transportation of certified assistance dogs is free of charge.
  • The dog will be accommodated in the space on the floor in front of your seat.
  • If your assistance dog cannot fit comfortably in this space, please contact our Service Center in advance to check availability for an additional seat at no extra cost.

Safety and Comfort

  • We recommend securing your dog with a dog car safety harness or equivalent during take-off, landing, and whenever the seat belt sign is illuminated.
  • Passengers are responsible for managing the needs and care of their assistance dog throughout the journey. Our cabin crew is not permitted to handle or care for animals on board.

Behavior and Health Requirements

To ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, assistance dogs must meet the following criteria:

  • Well-behaved and non-aggressive towards other passengers or animals.
  • Not tranquilized during the flight.
  • Healthy, clean, and well-groomed, with the ability to control urination.
  • Responsive to instructions and signals from their owner.

Important Note on Snub-Nosed Breeds

Snub-nosed (brachycephalic) dog breeds are particularly sensitive to temperature changes and stress. Due to the increased risk of serious health complications or even death, we do not recommend air travel for these breeds.
