Medical equipment, supplies and medication

Registration of medical equipment, supplies and medication

We want your travel experience to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. To help us prepare for your medical equipment, supplies and medication, we recommend pre-booking the transport as early as possible, and no later than 48 hours before your flight.

If you arrange medical equipment, supplies and medication for your outbound flight, we will automatically register it for your return journey as well, provided both flights are operated by Marabu Airlines.

On the day of travel, please arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight to allow enough time for check-in and boarding processes.

To register medical equipment, supplies and medication:

  1. Select the type of medical equipment, supplies or medication you will be travelling with. Information about the different types can be found below on this page.
  2. Download and complete the "Register your assistance requirements online" form.

General Information & Requirements

Travelling with medication

Before you travel, we kindly ask that you review the guidelines below to help ensure your journey goes as smoothly as possible.

  • Carry-on Medical Supplies: Please bring enough medication to cover your needs during the flight and for the first 2–3 days after arrival. The rest of your supply should be packed in your checked luggage. As a leisure airline, we are happy to carry medication free of charge for trips lasting 2 to 3 weeks.
  • GP Documentation: Carry a letter from your GP confirming the name, type, and dosage of the medication. The letter should also state the purpose of the medication and list any medical devices you are bringing (e.g., syringes or EpiPens), as these may raise concerns at security or customs.
  • Packaging Requirements: All medication must be in its original packaging, clearly labelled by a pharmacy to show that it has been prescribed to you.
  • Repeat Prescriptions: We recommend obtaining a repeat prescription from your GP to take with you. This will help you replace your medication in case of loss, damage, or insufficient supply while abroad.
  • Check Legal Restrictions: Some medications may contain substances that are illegal in other countries. It is your responsibility to check with the Embassy of your destination to ensure your medication is permitted.
  • Dietary Products: Please note that dietary items (e.g., gluten-free products) are not classified as medication.
  • Storage Onboard: Unfortunately, we are unable to store medication that requires specific temperatures during the flight. Please consult your GP to arrange suitable alternatives if necessary.

Needles and syringes

You are permitted to bring needles and syringes onboard if they are required for the treatment or management of a medical condition. However, you must also carry one of the following forms of supporting documentation:

  • A letter from your GP confirming the type of medication and its intended use, or
  • If a GP letter is not available, the medication must have a printed pharmaceutical label that clearly identifies it as prescribed to you.

Travelling with medical liquids on board

The amount of liquid medication permitted in your hand luggage is regulated by the relevant authorities and may vary depending on your departure and destination countries.

In Germany, the German Federal Police (Bundespolizei) is responsible for authorising the carriage of liquid medication. For more information, please visit their website: www.bundespolizei.de.

Travelling with a dialysis machine

We are pleased to transport your dialysis machine free of charge. However, please note that, in accordance with safety regulations, the same size and weight restrictions that apply to hand luggage also apply to medical equipment.

If your dialysis machine exceeds these limits, it must be securely packaged for transport as checked baggage.

To register your dialysis machine, please provide the following details:

  • Make and model
  • Weight and dimensions (length, width, and height)

You are also allowed to bring a sufficient quantity of dialysis fluid at no extra cost. However, we kindly ask that the full supply needed for your holiday be delivered directly to your hotel or accommodation.

CPAP

We are happy to transport your CPAP machine free of charge. Please note that, in accordance with safety regulations, medical equipment must comply with standard hand luggage size and weight restrictions.

If your CPAP machine exceeds these limits, please ensure it is suitably packaged for transport as checked baggage.

To register your CPAP machine, please provide the following details:

  • Make and model
  • Weight and dimensions (length, width, height)

Using Your CPAP Machine Onboard

If you plan to use your CPAP machine during the flight, please note:

  • There are no electrical sockets on board — the device must be battery-operated.
  • A certificate of fitness to fly is required.

To obtain clearance, a medical clearance form must be completed and submitted. Please upload the completed and signed form via our online form no earlier than 3 months and no later than 48 hours before your outbound flight.

Oxygen concentrators

You are welcome to bring your own portable oxygen concentrator (POC) on board, provided it is FAA-approved in accordance with safety regulations.

Please note that there are no electrical power outlets on board. Your device must be battery-operated and fully charged prior to departure. The battery capacity must cover at least 150% of the total flight duration.

To ensure a smooth journey, we kindly ask that you register your POC in advance.

In addition, you will need to complete and submit a medical clearance form. Both the registration of your POC and medical clearance are mandatory — without them, boarding will not be permitted.

Please upload the completed and signed medical form via our online form no earlier than 3 months and no later than 48 hours before your outbound flight.

Taking your own additional oxygen

Unfortunately, customers are not permitted to travel with their own oxygen cylinders containing gaseous or liquid oxygen. However, you may bring a portable oxygen concentrator on board your flight.
